What we've been up to!

As we have started to see the warmer weather return there has been lots of activity taking place in the Grounds.

The Payback team has been back each week to keep on top of the mowing and strimming. And Terry organised a Garden work party one Saturday ahead of the St Mark’s 200 year anniversary where many Gatewayers were out helping fill the 6 large planters with new topsoil and compost mix then planting fresh plants sourced from The Arium nursery, as part of the Nature Trail and Garden work.

The Community Café has also been a buzz with activity lately with lots of creative work taking place in preparation for the community arts project that was displayed for the 200 year celebration.

David Cole attended a Household Support Fund thank you event at the Civic Hall where he got the chance to connect with others from around Leeds who are doing community work and supporting vulnerable and marginalised people. Gateway has benefited from the last five years from the Household Support Fund, helping to cover some of our costs for the Community Cafe, Fuel Vouchers and additional items we give away from our foodbank outlet. The fund is now coming to an end and being replaced by a different one - please pray Gateway can still access help from this!

The youth held a very successful and yummy bake sale the other Sunday and raised over £600 to help towards the costs of getting them to NewDay in the Summer.

We hosted a connection evening at Gateway with other leaders from 10-15 different churches represented, including some new ones and Chris shared about local church mission.

And lastly we want to praise God for this year’s finances, as we came to end of the financial year there was a 0.5% surplus. Big thankyou to Esther for managing this so well.

This is a place where we hope to share what we have been up to in Gateway, to let the whole church know of activities and aspects of church life including wider outreach and initiatives that you may not always get to witness or hear about. We want to encourage everyone with all the good and exciting projects we are part of and give space to look back, reflect on and thank God and others in our church community who serve in the local area, the city or further afield.

If you have something to share please email it in to sarah.woodger@gatewayleeds.net
