What we've been up to!
At the beginning on Feb we had the Ukraine Powerhouse where about 50 people from the three churches (Gateway, King's Cockermouth, House of God's Grace Kropyvnystkyi) gathered online. It was a powerful time standing together for situations in all three churches, praying in different languages and building bonds of friendship between churches.
The environmental team at Gateway meet once a month on the first Monday to pray and it is great that some of our young people are engaging with these times of prayer and growing in their faith.
The School of leadership course is now nearly halfway through the year and it has been great to have a variety of speakers and teachers covering the different topics and it was great to have Hannah Clark teaching for the first time last month.
David Cole visited the Night Shelter being held at St Chad’s Church in Feb and it was fantastic to see the church opening up their doors to people sleeping rough and exciting that we’ll be doing the same at St Mark’s very soon!
The Creative evening was ace! – with such a lovely relaxed atmosphere and a good number and mix of ages who came along with such a variety of creative projects, it was fab to chat, discuss, share ideas with each other. A BIG thankyou to Natalie and Amy for initiating this.
We recently made a difficult decision to close our Chillzone Youth outreach project but as a parting gift to all those local young people Hannah prepared and hand delivered these gifts in the community.
This is a place where we hope to share what we have been up to in Gateway, to let the whole church know of activities and aspects of church life including wider outreach and initiatives that you may not always get to witness or hear about. We want to encourage everyone with all the good and exciting projects we are part of and give space to look back, reflect on and thank God and others in our church community who serve in the local area, the city or further afield.
