What we've been up to!
Before Christmas we had the final evening of our 8-week Wellbeing Journey. Over the course of the journey, a group of nine people — a mix of Gateway members and guests, and both Christians and non-Christians — sat around a table together to explore all aspects of our wellbeing. We have all taken away practical tips for improving our wellbeing, but more importantly, we enjoyed a wonderful time of getting to know one another, building friendships, and encouraging each other in our walk with God. I know that lasting friendships have been formed through this course, and it’s exciting that a couple of participants have decided to join the Alpha Course in January. We are so thankful for everyone who baked such amazing treats for us each week and for all the volunteers from every Life Group who came to wash up and serve refreshments. Thank you also for everyone’s prayers for this course. A special thank you to Becky Bembridge and Nick Mance, who faithfully led our table discussions each week.
Also in the lead up to our Christmas events we had the opportunity to give out cards and donuts at our local primary school Quarry Mount, which were very well received.
One of our Christmas highlights is always the Winter Wonderland, this year there was a lovely atmosphere, plenty of guests and a number of people who came to the prayer and prophecy table. Mark and Seth gave the background entertainment by playing some festive piano pieces and Barbra Barnes’ lead a very popular Christmas card craft. And a special thank you to Terry who stepped in as Santa last minute!
Chris has been busy with his wider ChristCentral role meeting different NewFrontiers leaders and also other Leeds church leaders.
Hannah Clark continues to faithfully run our Foodbank at St Mark’s each Monday and often has some precious conversations and interactions with the guests about faith and church.
This is a place where we hope to share what we have been up to in Gateway, to let the whole church know of activities and aspects of church life including wider outreach and initiatives that you may not always get to witness or hear about. We want to encourage everyone with all the good and exciting projects we are part of and give space to look back, reflect on and thank God and others in our church community who serve in the local area, the city or further afield.
