What we've been up to!
Lots has been happening in the lead up to Christmas…
We once again as life groups supported the work of KidzKlub by providing hampers for struggling families in Leeds with gifts and food items to show them that they are special and loved.
The Grounds team made great progress last month despite the weather they managed to lay a new section of the path, thank you to all those showing so much resilience and dedication to our outdoor space.
The Gateway Men gathered together for a good evening of fellowship and pizza eating, thank you to Chris Boxall who spoke on how the world is searching for meaning by digging into the question ‘Why do we need Men?’
The Student and 20’s team have had some great discussion evening and series of talks plus a fun Christmas party.
Recently it has been great to welcome Terry and Mary Crump into the Gateway family and they are already being such a massive blessing in different areas of church life. And a farewell was given to three of our student and 20’s Samuel Anand, Tom Sheon and Shirley who are moving on.
The Abbott family have now started their 3-Month Mission Trip to Thailand – and we stand with them as a church family to pray including our Gateway kids who had a very special time hearing from God and engaging with praying for the Abbott family at church on Sunday during one of their sessions.
And finally we want to remember our dear friend Ken Walsh who passed away. Ken’s funeral was held on Tuesday 18th November at Lawnswood Crematorium and there were 9 Gateway friends there to say farewell to a man who had lost his way in life. There would have been nobody there if we hadn't gone. Esther did wonderful eulogy, Hannah a heartfelt prayer and Lesley spoke a poem she had written for Ken. He was remembered with humour and dignity and we hope that the word of God and the consistent love over years he was shown at the community café sowed seeds.
This is a place where we hope to share what we have been up to in Gateway, to let the whole church know of activities and aspects of church life including wider outreach and initiatives that you may not always get to witness or hear about. We want to encourage everyone with all the good and exciting projects we are part of and give space to look back, reflect on and thank God and others in our church community who serve in the local area, the city or further afield.
If you have something to share please email it in to sarah.woodger@gatewayleeds.net
