St Marks
In 2008, the redundant St Mark’s Church building was bought by Gateway Church.
Over the last 3 years we have been planning and fundraising to enable us to move in to the church for our Sunday and midweek meetings but more importantly to create a space that serves the community in both a practical and spiritual way.
As I’m sure you’ll have noticed, if you've walked by recently, in June 2011 the work has now started, with vital repairs to the stonework, windows and structure taking place to begin with. After the initial repairs, internal refurbishment will take place to transform the building in to a space that we hope will be usable by about Easter/Summer 2012. A second round of repairs will then start followed by further renovations, which we see will have us meeting there on a Sunday within two years.
We plan to have numerous drop in sessions for specific groups such as for the elderly and parent & toddler groups, as well as classes being run from there for dance and language learning. There will of course be scope to have more and more things running as the building takes shape and any suggestions are very welcome.
If you would like to get in touch with us with suggestions, questions or sign up to email updates on the work, please drop us an email at office@gatewayleeds.net
